On Friday, December 20, twenty YPC choristers accompanied by Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Núñez and Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Núñez visited Animal Haven shelter, a nonprofit organization that finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs. In this season of giving, the children had two goals in mind: sing with shelter dogs and donate supplies to keep the animals comfortable during the holidays.
Upon arriving at the shelter, the choristers donned Santa hats and presented staff with bags of blankets, towels and treats they had collected for the occasion. They learned about pet adoption and were introduced to a group of puppies that had recently arrived from Puerto Rico. After spending some time with the adorable puppies and singing festive favorites like “Frosty the Snowman” and “Feliz Navidad,” the singers were given a tour of the facilities. Walking through the halls of the shelter, the choristers broke into a soft rendition of “Carol of the Bells,” while the curious canines looked on in rapt attention.
In spite of a full schedule of holiday performances, YPC’s choristers were eager to spend an afternoon with shelter pets and share a little joy.
